Name: Joy Bergin
Family: I am the mother of three and grandmother of five. Family is very important to me and I love spending time with my husband, children, and sisters. I don't get to see my brothers often but have a great time when I do.
Favorite Hobby/Pastime: Family, travel, nature and history
Favorite Vacation Destination: I love to travel! Some of my favorite places include Saint Augustine, Florida, as well as Williamsburg, Virginia and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. Last summer I was able to combine my two favorite things and go to Colorado with my husband, one of my sons, daughter in law and 2 of the grandchildren. We had a great time camping, hiking, and sightseeing. I love nature and history so most of my trips revolve around one or the other and if I'm lucky some of each! So far I have visited 30 states, DC and 10 countries. There is so much more to see though. I would love to go back to Rome and DC. Some of the places that I would love to go but have not been include, Greece, Boston, and Northern California to see the Redwoods. I'm sure I can think of another dozen but these are at the top of my current list. For our next big vacation we are looking into taking a train trip that visits various National Parks in the West. I've never taken a long train trip but to me, it sounds like fun.
Other fun facts: Currently, I am a social worker and love working with children and their families. The best thing about my job is helping families make their lives better. In retirement, I'd like to work part time for an airline and get flight benefits so I could still afford to travel! Or better yet, be like a couple of my friends who have a big RV and spend most of the year going from place to place spending a few weeks in each. I always come back from vacations thinking I still didn't get to see and do everything I would have liked!
My DaVinci Experience: My dentist told me that implants would be my best option and recommended DaVinci Dentistry and Dr. Khal. I made my appointment and from the first day I walked in, the staff was wonderful. They treated me as if they knew me and asked if I was Mrs. Bergin rather than your typical sign-in sheet. They helped me with my paperwork and got me in very quickly. Dr. Khal explained exactly what the procedures would entail and gave an estimated time line. He also said this time line would be best case and talked a little about the possible problems that might be encountered. He asked if I had questions and when I didn't really know what to ask, he said I could take time to think about it and call back with any questions. He did not pressure me about what I should do and was willing to talk to me and give me the time I needed to make a decision. I have always been afraid of dentist and dental work so it was imperative for me to be comfortable with them to make the decision to go forward.
Overall, the staff was kind, explained each step and made me feel supported. Dr. Khal and Dr. Raed were both great during the procedures and were very patient with me. Now when I go in, the entire office always greets me by name and makes me feel like I'm not just a patient but a part of the family.
